Winter is Laser Time! – Part 2

The winter is not officially here, but we should call it so with all the weather changes the temperature already diving dramatically and in some states it’s snowing  as well.  Now is the time to treat all the skin damage you got from last summer and get rid off all the unwanted hair for next summer.

All the laser treatments require a post care that includes a non exposure to the sun, which is much easier to do in the winter time, when we cover ourselves with many layers of clothes.

The sun’s rays make us feel good, and in the short term and make us look good. But our love affair isn’t a two-way street. Exposure to sun causes most of the wrinkles and age spots on our faces. Consider this: One woman at age 40 who has protected her skin from the sun actually has the skin of a 30-year-old!  It’s important to observe that even though it’s not summer time, the sun still burns your skin with UVA and UVB rays and the snow reflection can be more aggressive that seating at the beach! So please wear sunblock at all times!

The High-energy light  heats and destroys follicles, preventing hair from growing back. The primary principle behind laser hair removal is selective photothermolysis (SPTL), the matching of a specific wavelength of light and pulse duration to obtain optimal effect on a targeted tissue with minimal effect on surrounding tissue. Lasers can cause localized damage by selectively heating dark target matter, melanin, in the area that causes hair growth, the follicle, while not heating the rest of the skin. Light is absorbed by dark objects, so laser energy can be absorbed by dark material in the skin, but with much more speed and intensity. This dark target matter, or chromophore, can be naturally-occurring or artificially introduced.

Our CoolGlide laser delivers 21st century technology for treatment of this distressing problem. Cleared for permanent hair reduction, the CoolGlide laser can treat men and women of all skin types and tones safely and effectively. Even patients with a suntan.

Most areas require 4-6 treatments. However, the number of LHR treatments required for optimal long-term benefits depends on multiple factors – hair thickness, the area treated and your own hair’s growth cycle. Interestingly, not all hairs are actively growing at the same time and actually go through three distinct phases: growth, regression, and resting. LHR treatments work by disabling the hair that is principally in the active growth phase at the time of treatment. Since other hairs will enter this active growth phase at different times, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all of the hair follicles in a given area.

At Radiance Medspa DC we offer a special mark down of 20% on pre-paid packages of 6 or more session of LHR! You can even combine areas of treatments if you want!
